The safety and security cultures that we all work so hard to instill in our workplaces are critical. That dedication, and those carefully planned strategies, should not end when the work day does. Are you also planning for safety and security at home? Are your employees?

When it comes to home safety, it is best to prepare and prevent rather than repair and regret. During vacation season, many of us leave our primary home unattended for days or weeks as we spend time at a summer home, a hotel or with friends. According to the FBI, residential burglary crime rates increase about 10% in June, July, and August. In many cases of home break-ins, thieves enter through a door or window that was left unlocked. The fact is thieves are “lazy.” Many robberies can be prevented by using simple strategies to deter them from attempting to enter your home. From putting random access timers on lights and planning mail pickup, to hiding empty trash cans and not posting travel plans on social media, there are many easy to implement tips that can help prevent break-ins and provide peace of mind.
