Expressing Gratitude for our Safety and Security at Thanksgiving Time

It’s a tradition to express gratitude during Thanksgiving time, whether you visit family and friends, enjoy a prepared meal at home or your favorite restaurant, or simply spend the day watching football.

If you think about our workplaces, shopping malls, residences, and communities, we all have a lot to be thankful for. Keeping businesses and public venues safe and secure year round, particularly during the holidays, takes a collective effort. Thanks to the tireless contributions of many, we can generally move about our daily routines, safe from harm, confident that we will be protected.

This Thanksgiving holiday, let’s all be thankful for the many individuals who strive to keep us safe and secure…
 

• Security professionals who are guardians, protectors, escorts and concierges

• Entrepreneurs who bring new security products and services to the market

• Police officers who patrol our streets to deter criminal activity

• Firefighters and paramedics who respond to emergencies

• Business leaders who make a commitment to a strong safety culture

• Coworkers who follow access control procedures and other safety rules, even when it is not convenient

• Airport workers who detect and remove suspicious baggage and packages

• Educators who lead students through safety and evacuation drills

• Hospital administrators who ensure emergency supplies are stocked, and the doctors and nurses who care for the sick and injured

• Safety leaders who enforce regulatory standards and look out for us when we are in too much of a hurry to take proper precautions

• Military men and women who make the ultimate sacrifice to proudly serve their country

  
This list can’t even begin to touch the infinite number of people who are our dedicated beacons—those who take pride in performing their specific roles for their customers and the public they loyally serve. During this time of giving thanks, whether you are taking time off or are required to work, let us acknowledge the contributions of those among us who serve as well as be reminded of our own part in the collaborative effort to keep our workplaces and communities safe.
