The SPs and a Denver Mental Health Clinician enlisted EMS to evaluate him with the man refusing medical treatment and becoming aggressive with threats of physical violence. The SPs told the man that he needed to leave property due to his behavior as he began swinging a wooden bat around with shards of glass embedded into it while making threats towards the officers. The man jumped over a glass wall onto the stairs, lost control of his bat and the SPs were able to confiscate the bat. After, they protected the Mental Health Clinician until law enforcement arrived to detain the man.
